@lauraburbs: Surely there’s different grades of polyester? like is there nicer more expensive plastic? and that’s why they can charge more? I love this trench though 😭 Not worth it? #trenchcoat #polyester
You’re just paying for the brand, sure maybe the cost to make this item is more than some other stores with same material/item but imo the only justified purchase of expensive clothing that’s plastic are things to repel water/snow to keep you safe in extreme weather.

I don’t know why synthetic fibres get such a bad rep. A good quality polyester can be more durable than a poor quality cotton or wool. It’s also water resistant. Plus washing it is so much easier, you don’t need to get it dry cleaned like if it was wool.

Polyester is plastic. You’re paying for plastic and the brand name.

Friends with Frank Penelope trench! I have it in black from 2 years ago and it’s 100% cotton. Just the lining has some polyester

I tried on the Evans coat today and absolutely fell in love until I realised it was 100% polyester and $900 for that kind of fabrication is out of control. Surely someone’s done a dupe of this somewhere in natural fibre? It’s not the price so much it’s just that we’re paying so much for plastic. The cut and style is absolutely perfect for me but I just cannot justify $900 for polyester. Anyone know of a dupe for the Evans trench?

I have it in black, purchased last winter and have had so much wear out of it. I didn’t like any other styles as much. I will say it has maintained its shape perfectly and looks as new as when I purchased!

Just checked the label of the Burberry trench that I purchased for a lot - 13 years ago. 100% cotton. Cost per wear $0 invest in the classics.

I’ll make you one 100% cotton for cheaper than this. Maybe a wool cotton blend if I can find it.

I had a similar moment on the weekend with the kookai trench - it’s a fair bit cheaper at $380 but it’s also 100% synthetic so I didn’t buy
