My sweet boy Amare was born with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1). This is a rare genetic condition that causes non-cancerous tumors to grow uncontrollably along the nervous system and under the skin. In Amare's case, it is an extremely severe form. The large tumors on his face are heavy, pressing down on his eyes and airways. This has already taken the sight from his left eye and requires him to use a permanent tracheotomy tube just so he can breathe safely. Because these tumors are deeply intertwined with his facial nerves and major blood vessels,every single day is a careful medical balance of protecting his remaining sight in his right eye, keeping his breathing tube clear, and managing the intense physical weight he carries on his face. But if you look past the medical equipment and the tumors, you will see the heart of my son. He is a sweet, loving boy who wants the exact same things every other child wants which is to play, to make friends, and to be accepted. He hears people whispering and he feels the cruel stares when we go out in public, yet he continues to wake up every morning with a strength that inspires everyone around him. He is not his diagnosis; he is a fighter, a survivor, and our absolute hero❤️‍🩹 We are fighting so hard for his future, and the support we have received has given us so much hope. We have raised 83% so far from our $120,000 goal, which means we are very close! Knowing that we are almost there brings tears to my eyes. This money goes directly to his specialized surgery,constant medical supplies, and the specialized care he needs to survive. Pls don’t give up on him❤️‍🩹
