Hi everyone 💔 We’re on the way to Cornell with Ginger and baby Hershey. When our vet came out to check Hershey, her IgG levels came back low. IgG (immunoglobulin G) is what foals get from their mama’s first milk (colostrum) in the first hours of life—it’s what gives them the antibodies they need to fight off infections. Without enough IgG, their little bodies don’t have the protection they need, and even something small can turn into something life-threatening very quickly. Because Hershey’s levels are under 400, she’s being started right away on two rounds of plasma and will be staying overnight at Cornell with her mom. The plasma gives her the antibodies she didn’t get enough of, helping her immune system catch up and giving her a real chance to stay healthy. If this isn’t treated, foals with low IgG are at very high risk for severe infections like pneumonia, joint infections, or sepsis… and we’ve seen how quickly things can go downhill. We are not willing to take that chance with her. We’re doing everything we can for this sweet girl—just like we would for any of our animals—but we can’t do it alone right now. Funding has been slow, and this emergency is expected to be over $2,500. Please keep Hershey in your thoughts and prayers tonight. And if you’re able to help in any way, we would be so incredibly grateful. Every single dollar truly makes a difference for her. Thank you for always standing behind us and these animals… it means more than we can ever put into words 🤍
