@trysilivac: We built this because there was no other way to sous vide plastic-free. Silicone, vacuum-sealable, sinks on its own. Made for sous vide. #sousvide #plasticfree #kitchentok #sousvideeverything #sustainableliving
People do realise that silicon is a type of plastic yeah?

Are microsilicones better than microplastics? Just curious because these produce microsilicones

Why do you assume silicone is better?

Silicone is objectively better than micro plastics and a simple Google would've told y'all that.

@trysilivac Quick question 🙋 is the bag platinum-cured food-grade silicone, or peroxide-cured? And do you have migration test data (siloxanes D4/D5/D6) at sous vide temps with fatty foods? Asking because I'd like to use it in my Thermomix bowl for sous vide. Thanks!

Don’t put butter in your bag with a steak. Add it afterwards when you’re searing it.

Fun fact, silicone is a forever chemical, glass is not and those jars are literally made for holding food in hot water.

If plastics are an issue you’re at way to high a temperature to sous vide at, the highest anything should need that is a viable piece to sous vide is 160F for poultry which is the threshold for the flimsy plastics to lose integrity so use a better bag

Plastic free? Silicone is a plastic! It’s still a polymer… just derived from silica instead of fossil fuels I guess but still a type of plastic in the sense it’s a polymer. It’s also just as bad for the environment in terms of being hard to recycle…

U just said silicon floats but urs magically doesn’t or did the competitor silicon bag just float because you didnt actually vacuum seal the bag but rather just put the meat in and by hand squeezed some air out because thats the only way it could float while yours doesn’t

I know you sell a vacuum for this but, if you already own a vacuum sealer, which many people who have sous vide have, many have options to attach a hose, like the nesco sealer. Perhaps you could sell an attachment for that that works for your bags. I'm interested in these, but not sure I want to add another gadget I won't use often.

I’m a lot more concerned with you putting an equal part steak and butter in the first pouch. Butter milk solids + steak = 💩

dude, do a proper comparison cause it looks really bad when you compare a silicone bag not vac sealed and full of air. yeah a bag with air floats...

Is silicone safer than plastic? Maybe. I’m not convinced either are safe. However, every reusable silicone cooking item or freeze tray I’ve tried has a distinct silicone “smell” or “flavor” that gets imparted into the food. Also, it’s nearly impossible to clean out residual oils from the previous food items that came in contact with the silicone, especially bags. So in addition to the silicone residue, there’s gonna be residue from the previous food.

I ordered the bags and have used them twice so far. As much as I would love to leave a glowing review, I'm afraid I can't. There's no way to fold over the top portion of the bag which makes it difficult to load the bag without getting junk into the sealing grooves. Additionally, the layout of the pump (needle in the top instead of the side) is awkward and lends itself to getting damaged. And lastly, the pump and valve are proprietary and don't work with any other system. It would have been nice if the vacuum valve were similar to other reusable bags on the market.

Just use a regular silicone bag, leave the last couple mm unsealed as you slowly submerge, then seal just as it's at the water line. 99.9 air removed with a $3 bag.
