He took on Lorenzo Da Ponte's libretto, drawn from a Beaumarchais play Emperor Joseph II had banned for sedition. He convinced the emperor he would cut the political poison. He lied. He composed the entire opera in six weeks. ✨ Mozart wrote Voi che sapete as a short strophic canzonetta in the style of a popular song, and Da Ponte gave him a text that lists the physical symptoms of passion without ever explaining where they come from. The musical simplicity is deliberate. The character is an amateur, and the aria is the song he just finished writing. Mozart chose to make Mozart sound like a thirteen-year-old boy. 🎤 Janečková was born in Münchberg, Bavaria, in 1998, to Slovak parents. At 12 she won the Czech-Slovak Talentmania with over a million votes. At 16 she won the Concorso Internazionale Musica Sacra in Rome. In 2015, at 17, she made her operatic debut in Košice singing another role in this same opera: Barbarina.
