I cant speak for any other carrier but for the Ford everyone did have their own rack. you get assigned a rack in a berthing and then you get a key card to access only that berthing. every rack is accounted for due to man overboard. that way if you have a guy sleeping through a drill someone from that berthing can go find him and know what rack to look in
