@fragil3gg: addiction is such a difficult disease for those who love someone suffering from it. I think the thing that makes it so hard is because you know exactly what the addict needs to do to get their life back on track (which is made even harder when you're very ready and able to help them along the way) and there is nothing whatsoever that you can say that will make them understand that. this isn't because they're stupid, they're weak willed, or that they just don't care. when you are an addict, your brain tells you that everything besides drugs + things that help you acquire drugs are all that matters. that is the only thing that makes sense to them, and until THEY are ready to get sober, there is nothing you can say or do that will make them think differently. this video isn't saying you should abandon someone just because they're an addict, it's saying that you can only let an addict ruin your life for so long before you NEED to get away from them. remember that nothing is ever hopeless. no one expected me to survive, and now I'm almost ten years sober. just because you may have to go no contact with someone for a while doesn't mean you won't be part of their life ever again. so don't give up. find ways to have empathy for others and protect your mental health at the same time. I can't give you further advice on how to do that, because we're all different. however, I can tell you that even with our differences, we all have the ability to do this. ❤️🩹 #addiction #MentalHealth #sober #rockbottom #fyp

This was the hardest thing ive experienced in my life. I did eventually have to leave both of the addicts in my life after years of mistreatment. Thank you for sharing insight from both sides of this

hey, I have a question would it be easier to recover from addiction if you leave the substance gradually? (I mean if there would be less symptoms and if it'd be a more reachable goal or it would be counterproductive?)

you are a very wise and mature person. i hope you know that. it came at a very high price, we can agree on that, but a lot people payed the same price and didn’t reach the same level of wisdom as you. you should be proud, you’re helping a lot of people. thank you

I had to cut ties with my best friend of 14 years because she made bad life choices that started eating into my mental health. I enabled her I admit but then realized I was falling apart too. it was the hardest choice. this month marks the first year I told her I loved her but couldnt be her friend anymore unless things change. i hope she's well. thank you for your video

Thank you for sharing that. It kinda puts those last days of addiction and first days of abstinence into perspective.

I wish my mom had a TikTok. She won’t download it, but she’s been trying to help a family member for years and she needs this. I will say it really sucks to be the one who has to leave a loved one entirely vulnerable. It’s awful.
