Let’s get some facts straight:
1. This video is about THE WORLD’S RAREST BIRD OF PREY, not the strongest (Harpy eagle), not the largest (Andean condor). The Philippine eagle is the largest living eagle in the world by body length and wing surface area. However, it is not the largest bird of prey overall. Depending on the measurement used (weight, wingspan, or length), that title goes to other massive raptors.
2. There are NO Philippine Eagles (Pithecophaga jefferyi) in Indonesia. This apex predator is strictly endemic to the Philippines, meaning it lives nowhere else in the world—not even in neighboring Southeast Asian countries. In the wild, their distribution is strictly limited to just four major islands in the Philippines: Mindanao, Luzon, Samar, and Leyte.
While Indonesia does not have the Philippine Eagle, it has its own famous, highly endangered endemic raptor known as the Javan Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi). Endemic to the island of Java, the Javan Hawk-Eagle is Indonesia's national bird and is widely associated with the mythological Garuda symbol. Like the Philippine Eagle, it is a rare, crested apex predator that relies heavily on dense rainforests.
