You guys are forgetting the part where Elinor realizes Merida should be able to make her own decisions and because of that Merida literally prevents a potential war and changes TRADITION IN LIKE MEDIEVAL SCOTLAND. Merida needed her mom and her mom needed her, they both just needed to soften their ridges and talk. Never disrespect the Queen and Merida again.

The story was based off of the writer and her own daughter btw, this story was written by the mother from the perspective of the daughter thats what makes it more sad to me, she had these issues with her own daughter but understood her deeply enough to make a movie that perfectly encapsulates what it feels like to be 16 living with your mother
