@mementomikkie: In 1987, a 79 year old Bette Davis was promoting her memoir, "This N' That", on 'Donahue'. Here she explains why, in 1964, she consented to her 16 year old daughter's marriage to a man nearly twice her age. Bette's daughter, B.D. met her future husband, Jeremy Hyman, at the 1963 Cannes Film Festival, when her mother was promoting, "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?". B.D. and Jeremy married the following year when she was 16 and he was 30. B.D. and Jeremy had a 53 year long marriage, ending with Jeremy's death in 2017. Bette Davis's 'This N' That' memoir was somewhat of a rebuttal to B.D. Hyman's own memoir, 'My Mother's Keeper' (1985). In which B.D. accuses Bette Davis of being overbearing, domineering, and inappropriately interfering in her marriage. Bette Davis later said that she regretted giving her consent to the marriage, and accused Jeremy of driving a wedge between her and her daughter. Bette Davis passed away in 1989 she was 81. B.D. Hyman is now 79 (ironically the same age Bette was in this interview) and is a pastor and evangelical author. 🎬 Follow @memento_mikkie for more Old Hollywood content! #bettedavis #mothers #1960s #oldhollywood #mothersanddaughters
