i mean realistically writing a dissertation is a huge achievement, if someone wants to thank family & pets etc then why not? its an emotional time 😭 uni is hard

why is everyone hating, an acknowledgments is a personal thing, some people like it some don’t, i wrote mine all out to the people i care about most because it puts my love for them into writing. i don’t care if the marker cares or not, it’s for me and only me

Hate to break it to you but you can thank anyone who has supported you through the process. As someone completing my PhD dissertation, I am going to thank anyone who was there for me. Parents, friends, God, baristas, whoever I want. In fact my supervisors will be the last people I would ever want to thank. People are too comfortable criticising others on the smallest things - let people do what they want and stop being judgmental over people saying thank you 🙄

My first diss was just: To my psychologist, thank you for keeping me alive long enough to experience this level of academic stress - how do you feel about another one? (she’s since been acknowledged in an MSc diss and will be in my DClin thesis too 😭)
