wilted lettuce is amazing it's bacon grease poured over lettuce it's not just any old grease or oil it's actually bacon grease you crumble the bacon inside the lettuce and then use the bacon grease to pour over the lettuce to wilt it it is actually amazing my grandma used to also put chopped up onions and hers as well

Fry bacon. Crumble bacon. Cut up green onions. Mix all with leaf lettuce. Then sprinkle bacon grease on everything. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yes. It’s a southern “thang.” Definitely a once or twice a year treat.
