I mow 10-12 yards per week. I sharpen my blades weekly during the height of the season when grass is thickest and wettest. Go to bi weekly once stuff dries out and slows down. I have found for me a good indicator or blade sharpness is the clippings coming out of the discharge. The sharper my blades the more fine and minced the clippings come out. As the blades dull, the clippings become longer and chunkier. Just my two cents. Good content man. Keep it up.

I work for my city in the parks department. We mow a lot of parks and such. We have a machine to sharpen blades but I always get flack for using a grinder. I went to welding school too so I have used my fair share of a grinder. It’s so much simpler for me.

Do you know anything about string trimmers? I’ve done everything I can think of. Has good spark. Compression around 120 fuel getting to the carb. Even with starting fluid I can’t get it running. Was running before this spring/summer.

I just ordered new high lift blades for my Ariens 42 and the ground edge seems short, only about 3” . Is that normal? I’m replacing my worn mulch blades which obviously have a different profile .
