I remember postpartum feeling exhausted, bloated and emotionally overwhelmed while still knowing i’d choose my babies again every single time too. Trump barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House after repeatedly attacking news organizations whose coverage he doesn't like. CNN was supposed to handle today's television pool coverage. Instead of simply replacing CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and even Fox News stood together and said essentially: No. No replacement television pool. And THAT is the part I applaud. For years I've wondered why the media continually gives Trump unlimited live airtime to repeat false claims, attack journalists, insult people and dominate the news cycle. Cover the presidency? Absolutely. Investigate the administration? Relentlessly. Report what the government is actually doing? That's essential to democracy. But journalism doesn't require handing any president an uninterrupted live microphone whenever they want one. There is also a much bigger principle involved here: a president shouldn't get to decide which legitimate news organizations are allowed access based on whether he likes their reporting. CNN, MS NOW and Politico are now suing the administration over their exclusion, arguing that the bans violate First Amendment protections. And seeing ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and Fox News standing together over access to the presidency is significant. Maybe there's a lesson here for the media: Report the facts. Challenge falsehoods.
