One of my favourite books is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. There’s a bit in that where Lucy hears what her friends are saying about her. I think about it a lot. Now when I eavesdrop or snoop if it’s related to me, my sister says “were you Lucy’ing?”

Great post-thanks for posting. This is so interesting because you can get to a point in life where you have aged out of this, I think-where you know and accept your flaws well enough for other people’s views on them to not make a substantial dent in your self confidence. Two quotes come to mind-Robert Frost: Education is the ability to listen to almost anything and not lose your temper or your self-confidence. And Margaret Atwood: The desire to be loved is the last illusion. Give it up and you will be free
