As a woman having genital herpes but not an asymptomatic nor shedding or having a outbreak and on antivirals such as valtrex could one still receive oral sex without transmitting how can one protect their partner without dental dams other than letting them know!??

my wife has HSV-2 we've been together 6 years, even though I have issues with my immune system due to my Neuromuscular disease I don't have it. she takes a daily med for it, we have taken are time to count how long she goes with out a flare up. we have learned what can cause flare ups too and what to do to slow them from happening. after a flare up we wait about a week then use protection for a week then after. because of teamwork, we have a very normal and very enjoyable sex life. far as orl, we don't use protection and yet again I don't have any type of HSV however when she does have a flare up because the risk of it turning to HSV-1 can go up we don't try. biological, women don't spread it, it's men that do so if a woman has their HSV-2 under control and taking the daily meds the transmission rate drops extremely low. it's really a team effort to have a fulfilling sex life without restrictions however I would advise that not using protection should only be reserved for marriage only because of the risk still being there.
