@mamaaa9204: For months before she disappeared, Dorothy Jane Scott told friends and family that someone was stalking her. The anonymous caller would phone her constantly. Sometimes whispering. Sometimes threatening to kill her. But the creepiest part? He described what she was wearing that day… proving he was watching her in real time. Dorothy became terrified. She started taking self defense classes and avoided going anywhere alone. Then on May 28, 1980, everything got worse. One of Dorothy’s coworkers became seriously ill after what looked like a spider bite. Dorothy drove him and another coworker to the hospital late that night. While waiting there, she suddenly left to move her car closer to the entrance. But she never came back. A few minutes later, her coworkers saw Dorothy’s white car speeding crazily through the parking lot with the headlights on full beam. They thought she was joking at first. But the car disappeared into the darkness. Dorothy was gone. Hours later, police found her car abandoned in an alleyway. But there was no sign of Dorothy anywhere. Then the phone calls started again. Every Wednesday, a mysterious man would call Dorothy’s mother. He would ask the same haunting question: “Is Dorothy there?” Sometimes he claimed he had killed her. Other times he just laughed and hung up. The calls continued for years. In 1984, Dorothy’s remains were finally discovered in a remote area. But her killer was never identified. And to this day, nobody knows who spent years terrorizing her before making her disappear forever.
