Maybe im very wrong in saying this but idc. Wanting to feel appreciated is a valid feeling however you cant force your kids to appreciate you. I always thought it was odd to complain about ppls kids being ungrateful or unappreciative bcs you chose to have kids, you cant expect to get validation and praise for being a parent when you made the decision to be one. I wont expect someone to say praise me for taking care of my own pet because i took that responsibility and understood the issues i could face with it and I wouldnt complain about how hard it is to expect sympathy from others when I made this decision. (

omg I distinctly remember being about 7yo and I didn't get my mum and card or present for her birthday (I never had before either because I assume my dad or other sisters would've helped me with it and they had got divorced) anyway my mum made me feel so guilty about it, she cried and asked how I would feel if nobody got me anything for mine and I've genuinely never been as distressed in my life 😂😭 thinking back to it now I'm like omg I was literally a kid with divorced parents with no money how was I meant to achieve that 😂

my mum HATES cards. christmas cards, birthday cards. absolutely not. she even bins them. so i spent the last of my money on flowers and chocolates for her. she then askes where her card was. never in my life has that woman wanted a card. so i said "i didn't see a point since you hate then" and he said "a card with a written paragraph would have been nice though" and told me it ruined her day

Yep. When I’m a mum I’ll ask for a cute card and maybe takeout for dinner and that’s it. Some parents truly treat those days like a birthday on steroids

so real😭 I was so fed up this year that I only drew her favorite flowers in favorite colors and printed it out on a big paper with writing "Happy Mothers Day!". She was mad I didn't buy anything and was saying for a few days straight "hmm. I'm going to DRAW you something for KIDS DAY too" like she thinks I care if I get anything😭

My birthday is May 10th. It often falls on Mothers Day. Guess which one was celebrated when they overlapped? And this is still a huge wound for me because even now if it falls on the same day I get upset that I’ll only be acknowledged as a mom and not a person. I get it ❤️

I didn't expect anything on mother's day. my child made a bouquet for me this year. I cried. we ate sushi and watched a movie. then she went and hung out in her room before bed. Im blessed.
