I left my career when I was lucky enough to have a child at 42. My salary at that time was $156K a year -when I do the math for loss income for 12 years it makes me a little sick. But the strong desire to be the one to raise our only child made it feel right. The only complaint is that I can’t easily return to the workforce due to such a long absence. I just wish there were opportunities for mom’s to return to the workforce…internships or lower pay while training up. We have so much to offer but instead the opportunities are so rare especially for healthcare workers 🥺
