🥱Athens is BORING… … if you don’t plan your trip well! Here is my itinerary along with the tips & tricks I learned! … The center of Athens is split between more main neighborhoods and my favorite ones are PLAKA, MONASTIRAKI and KOLONAKI! That’s why in this itinerary I have included these 3 neighborhoods: 1. Start your day on 📍Aiolou Street It is the first street marked in the new city plan of Athens, so it is actually a very important point to begin with. 2. Head to 📍Adrianou Street for shopping ‼️Pro Tip: More affordable than the souvenir shopping on the Greek islands, Adrianou street seems like a never ending boulevard full of shops! It also has the highest number of preserved buildings (56 buildings with ground floors specialized in commerce and upper floor for entertainment and residential purposes) 3. Walk on and around 📍 Liziou street to discover small cute cafes and restaurants ‼️Pro Tip: Dare to take the stairs up, explore the hidden cafes around and stop for a FREDDO ESPRESSO 😉 4. 📍Anafiotika is a quiet, island-like escape from the city. It is a tiny, scenic neighborhood in the northeast slope of the Acropolis. Is was built in the 19th century (1840) by the workers of Anafi (often called “Little Analfi”). It is a maze extremely narrow with inhabited homes, so visitors should be silently exploring. 5. Last but not least, 📍Lycabettus Hill Trust me, wait for the sunset time! We went too early and it was too hit and too bright to see it properly! ‼️PRO TIP: you can take the funicular 13€ one way, 13€ for 2 ways) if you absolutely cannot hike, but I didn’t enjoy it! It takes you through a dark tunnel and sill have to climb half of the way to take it. From the funicular to the top, there is a 15 minutes similar hike as from the one to the funicular. 🙋🏻 Have you visited Athens? If not, this might be your sign! . . .
