American here. I was a baby/toddler that simply required a lot of physical closeness and affection and my mother (god bless her) gave it to me. I was also a toddler that would get my own snacks in the middle of the night, knew where to find my sippy cup, etc. I was and have continued to turn into a fiercely independent person, especially in my adult years. But I have family and friends I can go to if I need it.

If only we had a few years of paid parental leave to ensure this level of care in the U.S… Having a baby in the U.S. is terrifying rn due to the medical…. Let alone paying for the privilege if going to work, or daycare!

Well, they also live in a society where it’s not uncommon to send children on errands at a very young age. They actually have a TV show called “old enough” where they send the child to go get medicine for the sick baby or go get fish for dinner and they have hidden film Crews recording it but they start early. They know give them a level of independence that frankly the closest we’ve seen is what we had as kids in the 70s and 80s. But they have flag of the system in place for you know four-year olds to be able to go run errands. The kids walked themselves to school.

Bring it back a lot more I’m reminding my damn near 50 year-old dude to put his sneakers back where he found it in his coat back where he found it. Imagine that I have to complain about him putting tissue on the toilet roll so kids aren’t that bad.
