I posted this a little while ago on another platform, but I wanted to post it here too with a little more context for those of you who have never participated in a press junket. Basically, during a long TV/film press day, journalists are moved in and out of interview rooms (whether virtually or in person), and we have a very specific (and usually limited) amount of time to speak with talent on the record for coverage purposes. Regardless if you’re on Zoom or in person, someone is always off camera giving the journalist timing cues (e.g. 2 minutes left, 1 minute left, time to wrap). Once their allotted time is up, the journalist usually thanks the talent and exits the room. Here’s the general rule: The people running the press junket can cut off a journalist off when their time is up, but the people in charge cannot cut off the talent if they are in the middle of giving an answer. The talent ultimately gets the final say. #NicoleKidman and @jamieleecurtis had a very limited amount of time for #Scarpetta press last month, but they very graciously offered to answer one more question after I had been asked to wrap. For a journalist like me who works more in the print business, I can’t stress enough how important it is to get as much material as possible to work with for my final stories, so this simple (and very kind) gesture was greatly appreciated. I loved getting to talk to Nicole and JLC about their show, and I can’t wait to cover it again next season. #JamieLeeCurtis #PrimeVideo
