braces are not painful. I did mine today and up to now I have no pain 8hrs after. the only thing it's hard to eat solid foods as some of the brackets collide with your teeth making it impossible to chew. so it's only soup for my for the next couple of days. there is a slight pressure but no pain. maybe I'm the lucky one
