They’re missing it.He was seeing if she’s a kind person or to see how she really is,knowing there’s kids at the McDonalds would obviously cause situations so he just wanted to see if his and her perspective matched.Kid fell,the guy was worried,the girl was not,shows that they didn’t see the same way.

he’s embarrassed that she was listening, and she told him that she does want kids, but in 2-3 years. he said his timeline doesn’t work with that because he wants to be youthful when he has kids & not old. he declines the second date, asks ariana if maybe she had any friends she could set him up with, and she said “yeah my ‘timeline’ doesn’t align with that, sorry jerry.”
