spoilers: his mobility was starting to decline and he didn’t want people to see him as anything except for being super healthy & active, aka what he was known for. Everyone has the right to privacy and so did Richard. He spent his entire professional life supporting others emotionally and deserved to retire from that responsibility eventually.

I met him at an event, he asked about my kids and let me call me mom so he could talk to her. He was so sweet to her. It is a memory I will never forget. Truly a beautiful human!!!

I was going through a rough patch one time and I lost a bunch of weight. I remember emailing Richard Simmons just let him know that he inspired me to lose some weight. I never expected him to actually email me or read my email. He ended up emailing me back telling me that he was proud of me and to keep doing what I was doing to lose weight.
