Golden Cave that was blown up was a closed down mine due to a meteorite that crashed into it and made it unstable. That meteorite is an eldritch monster from outer space aka the green eye in golden cave aka the essence of Fool’s Gold. Nortons Magnets are made from that meteorite and are said to severely influence his personality, temper, and state of mind. That influence is essentially Fool’s Gold, he is based off of Gla’aki, a lovecraft monster. Norton and fools gold are based off of a lovecraft story called the transition of Juan Romero.
