Yeah no, run a validrive test with it, i guarentee that the drive fakes a terrabyte

no one's saying it's not labeled 1 TB What we're saying is they change the firmware to say it's one terabyte but the only way to know if it truly is is by taking over a terabyte of photos movies music putting it on there and then trying every single file and find which ones are missing which ones didn't make it on there which one's copied over your data and which ones show your music messed up your photos messed up and your videos messed up That's how you will know for sure you didn't actually get one terabyte you got 64 GB or 128 GB

They're a crappy ass SD card reader when you crack it open. It's not a solid state drive.

I can almost guarantee that drive is set to display memory it doesn't have and validrive is just re-reading the same part of the drive by water falling over into the same value. try reformatting it will r
probably drop down to like 100 GB MAYBE at best. a drive that small and that much storage would be in the 100-200$ range with current prices, even if it came from a good company lead alone a scummy one.

Someone did a Linux test for the same drive and it was only 97gb pretending to be 1tb, try putting some data on it and it will corrupt.

yeah, that test ran suspiciously fast. Also noticed the cut to when you "revealed" the report.

It’s functional yes but this doesn’t prove anything about the size. To find the actual size you have to do a long test writing to it

for everyone, valid drive is considered the easy mode test that is so easy to pass. you need better software to properly test. h2test in Windows, f3write/f3read in Mac, badblocks in Linux

A real, formatted 1TB drive would give you less than 996GB usable space (probably around ~920GB). ValiDrive isn’t a perfect solution to detecting fake drives either as all the data coming from the memory controller on the drive can just be faked.
