@airforce12347788: The blast tests on the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) were a series of endurance trials (Full Ship Shock Trials - FSST) conducted by the United States Navy to ensure the combat readiness of its newest aircraft carrier. Purpose: To test whether the ship could withstand the shock of a powerful underwater explosion and remain operational in combat. Time and Location: The tests were conducted off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida, in the summer of 2021. Scale of Blast: The U.S. Navy used approximately 40,000 pounds (18,143 kg) of explosives for each test, which triggered a small earthquake. Final Test: The third and final blast test was successfully completed on August 8, 2021. Results: The ship passed the test and demonstrated its ability to operate in an extreme combat environment. #military #usa🇺🇸 #navy #aircraftcarrier
