@maryann_with_a_plan: Alzheimer’s disease is often thought of as something that happens later in life, but research suggests the underlying changes in the brain can begin decades before symptoms appear—sometimes as early as your 30s and 40s. During this silent phase, processes like inflammation, insulin resistance in the brain, and buildup of abnormal proteins may gradually develop long before memory loss becomes noticeable. The encouraging news is that there is a lot you can do today to support long-term brain health and potentially reduce risk. In this video, I talk about practical, evidence-informed strategies including lifestyle habits that support cognitive resilience—such as metabolic health, sleep quality, stress regulation, movement, and targeted brain-supportive nutrients. I’m a Registered Nurse, Brain Health Coach, and nurse educator, and my focus is translating neuroscience into simple, actionable steps people can use in everyday life to protect and strengthen brain function over time. While no single strategy can guarantee prevention, the earlier you start supporting your brain, the more protective benefit you may build over the lifespan. STOP ONLY doing solo isolation hobbies!! aka crosswords, sewing etc. You NEED social interaction to make your brain keep going!!! join a club, get out of the house and interact!! (yes i come with A LOT of experience and sadly the genes)

I’m 38 and decided to “go back to school” for this very reason, taking classes at my community college. Am I going to be an architect or astronomer, no of course not! I just want to keep learning.
