the conversation that needs to be had is that white people will NEVER view biracial or mixed people as white. #endTribalism

NO! it’s not weird. the joke white mom stems from biracial (poc x white SPECFICALLY) children being RACIST not “doing something weird”. yall refuse to work through the identity crisis that being mixed in america brings and then perpetuate racist or harmful stereotypes onto a community that does accept y’all… the issue comes in bc yall also also want to be accepted by white people ( WHICH IS NORMAL u are white as well) but white people won’t accept yall as white bc race is phenotypical. and them yall try to assimilate into white culture but the very essence of white american culture is white supremacy. thats why many biracial feel lost bc they are not accepted into either. yt people bc of ur skin, black people because of the way u have been socialized and refuse to unlearn the racism ( sometimes its subconscious )that has been taught throughout your upbringing by a white mother.

as a biracial teen, i have a white mom and a black dad, and a white boyfriend. i’m also queer and alternative which plays a big role in my “social status” per-say, but i’ve really been turning towards this topic lately because i face the “too white or too black” even in these communities where it isn’t supposed to matter. i constantly face racist jokes and get bullied for being “whitewashed” by the other black girls. i get told not to speak AAVE or not to “talk like a white bitch” (someone said that to my face in class and i cried, i was so embarrassed) i started learning my great-grandmother’s dialect of italian just to cope. if there’s any girls in the comments who need a relatable friend, or biracial women who have advice for me and girls like me, please leave encouragement i’m gonna be a senior and i’m still so insecure about not knowing who i am :(

As a a black biracial women especially one with the white mama and white boyfriend. I have learned that at the end of the day I have to be comfortable in my blackness cause there’s always gonna be someone denying it when really at the end of the day the only people that matters when it comes to my blackness is my own community in my own home state the ones that I surround myself daily people are miserable and want you to be aswell so I gotta turn a blind eye to all the bs

I think people make the joke more of black women tend to bring more of their culture and raise their biracial children as black whereas SOME white women raise their biracial children as white, or other.

also no one wants to point out the fact that being biracial with one of the parents being black is never the issue you don't see black skins going through this and being the butt of the joke you don't see blasians going through this being the butt of the joke you don't see black people mixed with Arab going through this being the butt of the joke it's only when whiteness is involved whiteness is the common denominator in this

as a racially ambiguous multiracial, this whole debate forced me to question my blackness and end up with racial insecurity. something i haven’t dealt with before.

My dad’s biracial, my mom is white. I’m phenotypically not a white woman. Honestly at the end of the day I just mark off other or both black and white. I know I’ve had my experiences as being seen as black, but i’m also proud of my heritage on both sides and have grown up and realized I don’t care what others have to say about my identity.

I'm biracial, adopted by two white women, so I guess the white mom thing double applies to me. I have had to struggle with feeling "allowed" to be Black for so long

Absolutely, race is a social construct! Your phenotype heavily depends on who is looking at you. When people can’t guess, it challenges what they originally believed to be true.

its tired and I need ppl to wrap it up. asap. I didn’t give it much thought growing up, n really embraced being (“only”) Black until a couple years ago. I think there is new(er) research coming out ab how bi-racial’s (black + white specifically) navigate race generally and its been interesting, validating, but also disheartening hearing about how this & public perspective often shapes how we perceive ourselves & interact in/with the world.
