📍 ISLAMABAD | August 18, 2026 | HewadPress — Pakistan’s Supreme Court has ordered former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan to be transferred from Adiala Jail to a private hospital in Islamabad, as questions continue over his health despite prison authorities reporting a significant improvement in his eyesight. The court directed authorities to move the 73-year-old former premier to Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours, where a medical panel, including specialists and his personal physician, will assess his condition. The court said the decision was intended to protect Khan’s fundamental right to health and safety. The decision came a day after Adiala Jail authorities submitted a medical report to the Supreme Court claiming that Khan’s affected eye had improved substantially and his vision was now “almost normal.” The report said Khan had received repeated examinations and treatment from eye specialists. However, medical documents attached to the jail report also revealed other health complaints. Concerns about Khan’s eyesight have persisted for months. His lawyers previously said he had suffered severe loss of vision in his right eye while imprisoned, while PTI and his family repeatedly called for access to independent doctors and hospital treatment. The Supreme Court also ordered that Khan be allowed weekly family visits and telephone contact with his sons, according to the Associated Press. PTI welcomed the court’s intervention. Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023 and faces a series of criminal cases and convictions. He denies wrongdoing and maintains that the cases against him are politically motivated.
