Richard Hall :
Shouldn’t you make sure side b isn’t longer than side a before cutting out the tape?

So you tape the tape so you can tape the tape onto another tape?

Cassette to cassette dubbing sucks, as the quality is depleted, worse yet when HSD is used. I prefer real time recording from the original source, especially if it's digital from a CD or MP3/ WAV/FLAC. It's time consuming, but the results are plenty better! The highs especially are maintained, and we even have the option of adding Dolby B once the recorder has it.

Before CD burners I used to make playlists in Winamp using MP3 and dubbing to tape using a 3.5mm RCA audio adapter. Good times.

Man o man, seeing splicing tape brought back awful memories of digitizing old reel to reels at the studio I worked. Old crusty dried out tape. So many splices to retrieve a precious memory, a voice or a recital. The look on the client's faces when I'd hand them the CD kind of made it worth it.🙂

Couldn’t you just buy blank cassettes? I remember scrambling to hit record when that one song came on the radio.
