@vgnsofia: I’m ashamed to admit that I used to ride horses🐴 As a vegan I no longer agree with it. Because I don’t see horses (or any animal) as someone to use, ride, exploit, or eat. Horses are naturally gentle, peaceful animals - and there’s a pattern here… The animals we exploit the most are often the easiest to control. For a horse to be ridden, they have to be “broken in.” And even as a horse-obsessed girl growing up, I never stopped to think about what that really meant. It wasn’t until I went vegan that it clicked. I couldn’t say I loved horses, while also riding and using them for my own enjoyment. Using horses for entertainment and transport has been so normalised that most of us have never even seen what an untamed horse looks like. If we’re being completely honest, a horse’s instinct isn’t to be ridden by us. I dont really agree with this, since modern horses are bred for riding etc. I do agree that people should do the whole 'breaking in' thing differently. I myself treat my horse with as much love an patience I can give and let him make his own choices. not all horse owners are evil

while I see the intent here and value your empathy, not all horses are 'broken' like this. I backed my own horse and he was so chill about it, he really didn't care because we'd already done the groundwork and had the trust required for him to feel comfortable. In fact I've never had any harsh reactions with any of the horses I backed ☺️
