Ok. Precious. Your beliefs are to be respected. In my opinion I don’t believe requesting the other people to do with you it’s not necessary. it’s sweet of you because you have good intentions. However… you just go ahead and do your prayer. Nobody will ever judge you for it .. asking others to follow your ways or beliefs it’s not necessary. I know people that do and I respect it very much , but they don’t invite the rest of the table . We all respect it . We are all different and may be humble and love god in different ways . 🙏🏼. Your passion and love for God is beautiful. Allow others to follow naturally or not 🥰

honestly im not religious and i always pray to God before i eat … i dont usually ask others if they want to pray. i just do it and whomever feels they want to join then they can. My friend prays, so before we eat together i ask her if shes ready to pray though.

I hear what you’re saying, but at the same time, asking to pray over everyone’s food is also shifting the energy. Like you said, not everybody is the same, so just as you may feel a way when people give you certain looks, some people may also feel uncomfortable when that question is asked. When you’re sitting at a table with a group of people, why not just pray over your own food? If others wanted their food prayed over, they could’ve done it themselves or asked for it. They don’t necessarily need someone else praying over everybody’s meal.

I don’t like group prayers tbh. But I pray over my own food in my head bc there relationship w/ God is between them & God. Just like the saying “As for me & MY house we will serve the lord” so regardless of what they do in their own life. You do what you matters to you. On judgment day baby, you ain’t gone be there to speak on their behalf. Also agree with the comments about surrounding yourself with like-minded ppl. Moments like that lets you see who is among that.

surround yourself with people that believe what you do, or at the least respect you enough to respect your process... I've even offered to say grace on dates to test the waters... let them be irritated, let them be uncomfortable.... but now you know what you need to know about that person.

I think it should be looked at a little differently. if you want to pray for your food that's one thing, but if someone else doesn't believe and they are sitting with you and you ask them to wait so you can pray for their food, it can be uncomfortable and feel like being forced to be included in a religion that they arent part of

Or…just a more friendly distance from those that are indifferent. It’s not that people aren’t thankful or that they don’t believe in God, but rather they have been hurt or rejected by the religion in some capacity that is then attributed to the God that is said to be worshiped, ya know. Sometimes people need time, but saying a quick prayer for your portion and mindfulness should be fine. Offering a prayer can be revealing and mixed company can definitely be tricky…
