@mjlovesf1: The 2021 Silverstone Grand Prix The 2021 British Grand Prix is widely seen as one of the defining moments of modern Formula 1. It was the race where the rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen truly exploded. The Hamilton vs Verstappen collision Verstappen came into the race with momentum after winning the first-ever F1 Sprint race the day before. At the start of the Grand Prix, Hamilton attacked immediately in front of his home crowd. The two went wheel-to-wheel through the opening lap until the ultra-fast Copse corner. Hamilton tried to go up the inside. They made contact. Verstappen crashed heavily into the barriers at around 290 km/h with a 51G impact and retired from the race. He was later taken to hospital for precautionary checks. The incident instantly became one of the most controversial moments of the season. The stewards judged Hamilton predominantly at fault and gave him a 10-second time penalty. But many people felt the punishment was too lenient because: Hamilton could continue the race, Verstappen scored zero points after a huge crash. The F1 world split into two camps: Mercedes fans called it a racing incident, Red Bull fans believed Hamilton had been too aggressive. The debate lasted for months across media, paddocks, and online communities. #f1 #silverstone #maxverstappen #lewishamilton #silverstone2021
