@maven_hq: Handoff your Claude Code session. This is a great way to let Claude continue from where it was at, but with the highest performing tokens in the context window. #maven #ai #claudecode #llms

that's what /compact does. It creates a summary and a new conversation under the hood, there's no magic.

or use codex. the compaction is top tier at reducing context rot, vs. claude

735 lines of hand off file. it's spending half of my token reading and writing that shit.

Why not just build this mechanism in?

This is becoming too much for a tool that’s supposed to make things easier.

Why not a new session with that handoff document? /clear just deletes valuable information for future reference

I felt this with all existing AI models. The longer the chat is, the dumber the AI agents gets. Also, the token usage increases. The best way is to split the work into todo lists and use diff chats for each new task. Also .md script is the best way to break the hallucinating Agent and get work done.

I’ve had Claude get things completely wrong on a new session - even when using mempalace. Just completely forget critical info.

I have 2 entire workflow in 2 different projets in Claude, honestly what i recommend instead of this handoff file is to firstly write in the projects instructions how to answer you, or main tasks and objectives, when you want to resume a conversation in another one (because you reached the 100 image limit for exemple) you tell him that you’ve reached a limit and need a prompt for a new conversation to resume the EXACT same task at the exact same point. He’ll make you a prompt, at the end of the prompt you tell him to read the previous conversation to do the exact same thing, correct him if he starts saying weird stuff, and that should do it. I’ve done this like 20 times while working on big project and long sessions

Frameworks like GSD and Conductor solve the issue of context rot. This video is pretty useless 😹🙏

I used to do this. Now I don’t. I want as little in memory/context as possible. If it found the solution easy the first time, it’ll find it easy next time. For things that it struggles with I will get it to make memories for, but for general project knowledge I just let it rediscover it every time. I seem to get less errors that way.
