They probably got confused and thought pikelets/crempog were Welsh cakes. Welsh cakes were always called bakestones in my family. My grandfather made them all the time on a bakestones. which is also where you make pikelets.

I don't like sultanas but I LOVE the lemon curd ones. Also the place in Aberdare does kinder bueno welsh cakes. They are to die for! 🤤
