I had to read this guy’s book in an HS English class and it’s what made me realize how awful the Vietnam war actually was.

If you watch the movie The Patriot it’s basically the Vietnam War except America is the redcoats and Colonel Tavington and the Vietnamese are the colonials. Same again with the Afghanistan war and the Iraq war.

Memories Matter :
The Things They Carried is one of the most important books I ever read. It’s incredible for its powerful descriptions of the V conflict but also the nature of human autobiographical memory.
