I do hvac. When the evap is frozen and I mean an ice block.. it takes about 30 min to run the fan to melt it all away.

Be smarter (and may be the case) to use that heatsink to cool the air coming off the fan and send the hotter side outside. I have a 12v cooler that worked like this. Thing was a beast. Plug it in to a wall socket and you could use it as a fridge.
