@coaching.gifted: Therapy fails highly intelligent individuals because it was designed for the average, not for the mind that is fast at pattern recognition and processing information. #highintelligence #highlyintelligent
The more intelligent you are the harder it is to find someone smarter than you! I went through 5 or 6 tries and ended up with private therapist and it was worth it. I look at their specialties, degrees and age. Somatic therapy? Absolutely, that’s how I got started and still do yoga to remain in my body.

I'm not intelligent, but it seems having a high iq is overrated. I'd like to be calm and have personal discipline that allows me to help others.

I am a therapist… and there is no way I will ever be able to find a therapist for myself. I’ve tried and I always feel so far ahead of them.

Your mind is not what needs to process. It’s your body. Somatic therapy is what you need. It doesn’t matter how much your brain processes, your patterns are in the nervous system.

you can try self-therapy if meta-thinking comes to you naturally

But why do I know what I should do and still fail to do it? This is what makes me bonkers. And I beat myself up over and over about it.

Just have a roller coaster ride regularly and you’ll be fine. All the talking won’t solve anything if you already know the facts anyway.

Well. It depends on what you want to get from therapy. A lot just want to have a safe space to talk without being judged. Therapy can offer a non judgmental third perspective. Also depends on the subject that is being discussed and what the therapist expertises are. Personally for me it has been very helpful.

It doesn't really matter to me what they say. I just go to say all the things in my head that would sound weird if I said them in conversation.

Somatic therapy, however, is much more effective than talk therapy, in my experience. That is therapy that helps process trauma in the body

I've read that it'll only works if the therapist is smartest than us. So...

You've got it wrong. The therapist doesn't need to be smarter than the patient. What she/he really needs to do is teach the patient to be kinder to her/himself..🫴

Learning about somatic regulation through triggers is what healed me. No therapist was ever able to include my body into the trauma experience. It still baffles me.

Yup. Never once have a gone to therapy and heard something I didn’t already know. Most of the session is me telling the therapist exactly what’s up, what it happened, what is means, and a plan moving forward. In other words, I was the therapist in the room. And now? Saving my therapy pesos for another vacation:)

You are absolutely right! It is as if the therapist teaches in a predicted form and does not really listen or is present, they never get to the core where you feel seen and understood. I catch myself just “playing” along because it is embarrassing.

i find it a bizar experience to find a clinical psychologist that coudnt change viewpoint. he couldnt look from any other perspective only transplant his own experience to different shoes... constant reminder like i would experience it like that, your experience with the healthcare organization is not how ive experienced it... i would have handled that different if i where your teacher... and when i gave feedback on that... the reaction was again i have....
