I love checking out rural Japanese supermarkets 😍 💚 Hi, I’m vegan nutritionist itadakihealthy, living in Tokyo for 11+ years 💚 How to be vegan in Japan? 👉🏻Grab your copy of “The Ultimate Vegan Guide for Japan!” 142 pages packed with vegan info (last updated March 24th, 2026) 💚 OR just book a vegan shopping tour with me! 😍 👉🏻 All links in bio Whenever I’m traveling in the Japanese countryside, I usually skip convenience stores and go straight to supermarkets! They’re often way bigger than in Tokyo and always hide these random accidentally vegan-friendly snacks. I usually grab fruits or veggies, but today I was craving something a bit more filling. First of all: grilled sweet potatoes. I love them! They’re sweet, super filling, and just really satisfying. Then I found tofu donuts, accidentally vegan (if you ignore that the exact sugar source is unclear and may involve bone char processing 😅). They taste kinda “healthy” not too sweet, but still sweet enough. And the “grass drink”… I know it sounds questionable, but hear me out 😂 Imo it tastes like a very light matcha latte and I can’t get enough of it. It’s called aojiru (青汁), a Japanese vegetable drink usually made from kale or young barley grass, and it’s packed with micronutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants. Soooo quite a healthy drink 🤭 How would you rate this random combo? To me it was a “level over 9000” snack situation 😂 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 #vegan #veganinjapan #Japanesecountryside
