always design first. whenever i make an oc, i always needed a visual aid so i can think further about their lore. cuz designs eventually give ideas about what i needed to write for their story.

depends honestly- but i usually get an idea for a character, make a sort of trial design first then lore that i refine and when its done i make a finalized design

it flip flops, for my main stories it was a random design, then I built lore around them. but more often than not the supporting cast -it's lore then design because I'd have already an idea on the world, and ideas for interaction w the mains, so I take into account what would compliment or contrast existing characters, design and story wise
