Only a tiny handful of games use anti cheat that’s not compatible with Linux. Honestly the few games age very toxic games anyways.

It’ll come via hardware attenuation and secure boot without user generated shims, meaning only the big player distros without rolling release are going to be compatible, so Fedora, Ubuntu, Bazzite (via Fedora), and SteamOS will be compatible. Projects like Nobara and CachyOS, as well as any other niche distro, will not. It’s a strong and viable path, the Linux market share just has to justify it.

Correction: Once game developers and anti cheat developers find a better way than installing a kernel level program that runs 100% of the time. Then it’s game over

I absolutely love Linux but Call of Duty is the only reason why I’m still on windows.

you realize regular people will very likely not want to switch or not know how. unless a paid distro gets created that can be implemented natively like windows than the switch probably will never happen

It already is on linux. Anticheats like easy anticheat and battle eye already have linux support just the game devs literally choose and go out of their way to make their game unplayable on linux.

kernel anti cheats already exist in Linux, easy anti cheat always supported Linux BUT the game devs needed to explicitly activate to Linux. Also the Linux version doesn't have really kernel level access. It is still in user space so hackers could exploit very easily. I think valve is trying to make a non invasive kernel anti cheat but I could be wrong on this

Sigh. Nvidia make the best cards. The best cards run best on W11. Linux bros have yet to grasp this fact.

Anti-Cheats already work on Linux, both EasyAC and BattleEye have native and Proton support, but some game developers(like Fortnite) disable the support. The difference is that on Windows they run on Kernel level and on Linux they only run in User level. Linux will never support Kernel level anti-cheats, one of the main reasons is that it creates massive privacy and security concerns.
