Enrol in your local school. Unenrol and change when you move.

You won’t be able to enrol your child in Brisbane until you have a house as you need to have your proof of address. Catchments in Brisbane is so so strict. Enrol in Toowoomba at your local school, than re enrol when you move. You can literally enrol in January - heaps did at my son’s school.

you are automatically accepted into your catchment school. However if you have a preference for school just apply. they will either deny you or accept you. Getting into out of catchment schools cane be difficult depending on the school.

In qld - we live in Brisbane but when it comes to catchments they have to accept you regardless! So if you believe you will be moving you can hold off and don’t end up moving just enrol him at your catchment school in the new year 🩷

I was/am sort of in the same situation. N started prep this year and where I am is meant to be temporary and all I know is I won’t be here forever but I don’t know when I’m moving. Before I was having to enrol her in a school it was so stressful and not just because I didn’t know if I would even be where I am when she were to start but also because I didn’t want to have to re route her after she makes friends because it would make me feel like shit especially being prep. I ended up enrolling her at a school within a 20 minute radius to my home as I had no choice. I did feel like shit again because my reasoning I mentioned above but I guess when the time comes I move I will deal with it then. I really understand the stress babe! 💖

I was in this situation I enrolled my son in the zoned school but didn’t buy the uniforms till he actually started. He ended up being there for almost a year before we moved but had we moved sooner we would’ve unenrolled and gone to the zoned school for the new house (which we did when we moved) I sold the old uniforms to other mums at the school to try and make back money for more uniforms

you literally just walk into schools ( can search your catchment ) , I grabbed her enrolment forms a week before school finished for the year 😳 so you can do it last minute and they have to accept if you are in catchment

honestly if your plan is to move to Brisbane i would wait till next year then Enrol him worst comes to worst he starts a couple weeks late. if it gets towards the end of the year and you cant see yourself moving then you can always enrol him in a school where you are

contact local schools and ask for a walk through, he needs to be enrolled into a school in your area currently incase you don't move so he has a spot. Then if you move apply before school ends in December. just purchase uniforms the week before school starts (I work in a school) lol

9 times out of 10 you need to prove ur address for enrolment with all the catchments so if you don’t actually live there it will make it a little hard

Idk if this helps but my daughter started prep in February and we didn’t enrol her until a week before they started! This is in Logan south of Brisbane you can delay it until school starts

You call and ask for an appointment and then just go. When you're there tell them you are hoping to move but you dont know yet. When you move just go and enrol him then. You don't have to be enrolled on day one to go to a school in your catchment.
