@sacramentourbanmedia916: An Alabama man has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of kidnapping and murdering 19-year-old college student Aniah Blanchard before dumping her body in a wooded area. Prosecutors said 36-year-old Ibraheem Yazeed abducted Blanchard from an Auburn gas station in October 2019 after watching her walk into the store late at night. Investigators say he forced her into her own vehicle before later shooting her to death. Authorities said Yazeed abandoned Blanchard’s blood-covered car at an apartment complex in Montgomery, then moved her body into another vehicle with help from a second man. Her remains were eventually discovered weeks later in a wooded area of Macon County after a massive search effort. A jury convicted Yazeed of murder, felony murder, and kidnapping, leading to Thursday’s life sentence. Blanchard’s killing also led to major changes in Alabama law. At the time of the crime, Yazeed had reportedly been out on bond for separate violent charges, including attempted murder and kidnapping. In response, lawmakers later passed “Aniah’s Law,” allowing judges to deny bond for a wider range of violent offenses. “My daughter fought a violent criminal and got him off the streets forever,” Blanchard’s mother said following the sentencing. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall called the murder “senseless and brutal,” saying the sentence was fully deserved and long overdue for Aniah’s family.#fyp #viral
