@audaciousday: Healing hack for people pleasing or childhood trauma — read parenting books like It’s Ok Not to Share by Heather Shumaker #TikTokLearningCampaign #BookTok #peoplepleaser #stoppeoplepleasing #HealingJourney
I accidentally figured out the hack of reading parenting books to help reparent myself because as a teacher, I was reading books about handling kids from that perspective, and I realized it was helping me. I appreciate your suggestion as unfortunately, it seems like parenting books can really be hit or miss.

I read a Montessori book when my kid was a baby. I never taught him to share, and he is seriously the most thoughtful kid now 🥹

My kid wanted a swing that another kid was on and the parent tried to get their kid out before they were ready. I said “he can wait. He can learn that he doesn’t get everything he wants the moment he wants it, even if someone else has it” they scolded me and said that it was a “tough lesson.” 😬😬😬

My child is ten, and about two years ago, I stopped her from sharing for the very reason I felt I was teaching her to give in to others.

But there's 100% gray area here. If there's one gaming console in the house and one sibling is on it 24/7, that's not fair. This strategy just turns things into a race on who gets there first. It makes more sense to teach kids to share when the situation calls for it without a blatant "hand it over immediately" solution.

This reminds me of a really simple phrase they would use in my preschool - “Ask them if you can play with that toy *when they’re done with it*“ It can be simple and non-dramatic!

recovering from this made me realize I'm kind but I'm not nice. I think everyone is deserving of the best quality of living however. I also know most people don't think like I do and it's okay to protect myself from that.

That is a great share! Thank you. It really does start young and stay with us. Im the oldest of four and would always get blamed for anything my siblings complained about (i still remember various instances as well).
