Detectives told him they had evidence his dad was d*ad, claimed they found a b*dy, and pressured him until he completely broke down. But there was one HUGE problem: His father was actually ALIVE. Perez Sr. had simply gone to the airport to visit family — and reports say police already knew he was alive before the interrogation ended… but they pressed Thomas to the breaking point. The case sparked outrage after details emerged, the investigators allegedly: 1. Threatened that his dog would be euthanized 2. Denied or delayed medication needed by Thomas 3, Used extreme psychological pressure for hours on end (SEVENTEEN HOURS TO BE EXACT!) 4. Manipulated and convinced Thomas that due to mounting evidence, he had no way out The city of Fontana later paid Perez a settlement of about $900,000.
