this is so incredibly cool and i am so jealous! it’s so frustrating that in america we are not taught any other languages. i’m trying to learn spanish in my 30s (it’s my husband’s first language) but it is sooo hard now that my brain isn’t as moldable as an adult.

So funny, I am Italian and I speak English, French and Italian (and I live in Germany, sorry aber Deutsch ist schwer) I also believe I can speak Spanish by translating italian and french ahahahha

This is phenomenal! I'm absolutely fascinated by polyglots and how their brains work! I moved to Germany as an au pair when I was 17 and my brain was young enough to still be malleable and continued speaking it for about a decade but I haven't spoken it regularly for over 10 years now and I don't know how much of it I remember. These captions must have taken forever, thankyou so much for writing them out!

Du sprichst deine erlernten Sprachen so gut!! Sehr inspirierend und ein wahres Privileg dreisprachig aufgewachsen zu sein 🥹 Würde mich selbst durchaus als sprachaffin bezeichnen, Sprachkonzepte machen recht schnell Sinn für mich, habe dann auch Japanisch und Chinesisch ein wenig gelernt, aber das größte Problem was zwischen mir und dem fließenden Sprechen meiner Zielsprachen steht, ist wirklich die fehlende Energie sich hinzusetzen und zu lernen, wenn man vollzeit arbeiten muss... Ziemlich frustrierend, wenn man sein Potenzial kennt, aber es nicht ausfüllen kann und die Disziplin fehlt 😩

im also trilingual! i speak arabic, english and french all at a native level. spanish and portugese are intermediate. i can read russian but would love to speak and understand it. wanna learn romanian, japanese and italian. i love finding other polyglots on the internet :)

What language do you teach your child? I also grew up multilingual, and now my daughter grows up three-lingual. I speak Latvian to her, her father speaks Polish and the environment and daycare is Finnish. It goes very well in our case.

Ha, for a while I thought we'd speak all the same languages. Mine in order of competence are EN (native), DE, IT, FR, ES, all of which I can speak to a pretty good level. I also know (speak/understand) some BCS (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian), Hungarian, Greek, Irish, and Japanese (not much!). These are approx. "Farmers's Market" level or worse. I can also understand but can't speak some Platt, Luxembourgish, Schweitzer Deutsche, Esperanto, Interlingua, Interslavic, (Brazilian) Portuguese and (written) Dutch/Flemish. Since I lived in Schwabenland and Austria, I have no problems with Schwäbisch and Austrian/Bavarian Mundart either.

liebe dieses video, kann deutsch englisch fließend, spanisch und französisch kann ich so gut lesen und verstehen aber hab einfach verlernt zu sprechen ahhh und lerne grad seit einem halben jahr koreanisch bin erst auf A2 level aber eine sprache zu lernen die in der grammatik und in der Schrift komplett 100% anders ist als deutsch ist so cool, liebe es wie sehr mein Gehirn sich dabei anstrengen muss. Ich würd gern französisch und spanisch wieder richtig sprechen können und würde auch gerne arabisch können! so tolle sprache

Ich spreche alle drei Sprachen mis hijas les enseño tres también pero tenemos una mentalidad abierta para los idiomas pero no me gusta cuando las personas solo se concentran en un idioma y prohíben los otros
