Tyra Banks is suing Netflix over her portrayal in the viral documentary, 'Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model!' The three-part docuseries aired in February 2026 and took a critical "look back at the reality show's complicated legacy," leaving some viewers to criticize the former 'ANTM' host's lack of accountability regarding the show's treatment of contestants. In a lawsuit filed on Saturday, Tyra is claiming that only 16 minutes of a three-and-a-half-hour interview made the final cut, and that what aired was "stripped of context and reassembled" into a false narrative. She is suing for defamation, false light and other claims and asking for a jury trial to set damages for lost business opportunities, lost income and "mental anguish." In response to the lawsuit, Netflix has no comment. The former Victoria's Secret model says that she went into the interview with no topic restrictions and spent real time taking accountability for the show's missteps. Her lawsuit claims producers cut that accountability, choosing to tell a "deceptive story." "Tyra Banks participated in the Netflix documentary series 'America's Next Top Model (ANTM)’ because she believed viewers deserved a candid conversation about the show's legacy-its successes and its shortcomings," the lawsuit reads. "The accountability Ms. Banks took ended up on the cutting room floor." The centerpiece of Tyra's lawsuit is the story of contestant Shandi Sullivan. In cycle 2, Shandi is filmed having a drunk encounter with a male model that was framed on the show as a cheating scandal - Shandi has since said the sex was nonconsensual. "On the Netflix Series, Ms. Sullivan is shown describing the event as an assault-something Ms. Banks had never heard before and was not told during her interview," the lawsuit claims. "Ms. Banks' answers were given as part of a discussion that she was misled to believe was about regret and infidelity." Further, the docuseries also implied Tyra couldn't even remember Shandi's storyline, but the lawsuit says "full footage" shows Tyra nodding and saying, "I do remember her story."
