Poet: Imam Al-Shafi'i (Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi'i) Born: 767 CE (150 AH), in Gaza, Palestine. This poem encourages wisdom, contentment, and trust in God. It teaches us not to place our hopes in people who lack kindness and generosity, and to remember that both our provision and our lifespan are in God's hands. True happiness is not found in wealth, but in contentment. The poem also reminds us that life is full of change, and that God's decree cannot be avoided. Therefore, we should live with patience, generosity, and acceptance, instead of worrying about things beyond our control.
